Hours

We just finished watching Hours with Paul Walker. This movie is incredible! It is an amazing story of how a man and his newborn baby in an incubator survive the aftermath of hurricane Katrina where every second counts. After losing his wife in childbirth, Nolan Hayes must keep his daughter alive in an incubator. It seems like an easy task. Enter Hurricane Katrina, the power goes out. Nolan must crank a generator every three minutes to keep his baby alive. Enter looters, now he must also protect his child. This story is powerful, uplifting, frightening, and heart wrenching. I loved it. Paul Walker (RIP) is amazing in this movie. Acting singularly is difficult enough, but to do it with such emotion and to live in that character's situation made so believable and amazing. I could watch this again and again. I would recommend it to anyone. five +++++++ stars.

Jobs

We watched the movie Jobs tonight. Ashton Kutcher was  AMAZING in the role of Steve Jobs! He did such an excellent portrayal of the character. We got our geek on and nodded as we watched the story unfold. It was like a history book of Apple computers as we remembered the headlines and people that made Apple the company it is today. The other amazing thing was the attention to detail especially in the characters. At the end of the movie they showed pictures of the real people that were involved in the development of the Macintosh and we nearly fell over when we saw how close the actors looked to the people that they were playing. I must give it to the director of the movie. Excellence must be your middle name!
5 +++ stars!

The Fast and the Furious 6

Fast and Furious 6 I could watch OVER AND OVER! It has been touted as mindless, it's not. It's high impact high energy and has a really cool story line that takes a bit to figure out, so how could it be mindless! The acting by Paul and Vin was amazing as always and the twist near the end make it so exciting and entrancing! Kudos to the writers, I love when you mess with the minds of your fans. I'm a Fast and Furious Junkie so when I actually go the opportunity to see it WHOLLY COW my husband laughed at me as I sat in my seat cheering for the good guys getting excited over the ..... well I'm not telling you and booing the bad guys. AND THEY ARE BAD! One thing I must say though is that you must stay for the credits there's something at the end! If I could give it infinity stars I would. Wait this is my blog I CAN!

Superman

We just came home from seeing Superman, I have to say I was VERY unimpressed with this movie. I will say that Henry Cavill as Clark Kent was a great choice as the humble hero. He is very likeable and accessible (although I thought he looked great with hair on his face) He had big shoes to fill and he did it in spades. Amy Adams was fabulous and had just the right amount of snark and piss and vinegar for Lois Lane, she did an amazing job and was probably my favorite character in the whole movie. She was an amazing Lois and complemented Cavill very well. Now for the bad part, the storyline had a lot of plot holes, not little ones either but gaping Grand Canyon sized holes. With recycled technology akin to Independence Day and War of the Worlds it had many of the same style of scenes as in those movies. Great Caesar's Ghost! Perry White you did not use this VERY IMPORTANT TAGLINE!  Shame on you! The person who made this movie has OBVIOUSLY never read or watched the original Superman movie. It was so bastardized and made me feel dirty for watching it. Call me a Superman purist and I would proudly agree. I give it 2 1/2 stars. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams however get 5 stars for their awesome work as Superman and Lois Lane.

Sushi Girl

Imagine you are a beautiful girl working in a sushi restaurant. Imagine you are laying on a table covered with sushi while gangsters around you are beating a man to death in slow intervals looking for the diamonds they lost in a heist. Now imagine you can't say a word. You would have the movie sushi girl. It is a great movie but NOT for the faint of heart. If you don't like violence or blood this is not the movie for you. I however loved it because I'm a gangster movie fan! Mark Hamill did a great job producing this movie however his acting was less than stellar but boy can that guy do evil genius! Out of 5 stars I give it a 3 because of the sweet twist at the end.

Hellboy

This movie is flippin amazing. All of the creature creations are just incredible. I particularly liked the wind up man Karl Ruprecht Kroenen is excellently done and adds just the right amount of creepy to the already awesome and brooding Hellboy played by Ron Pearlman. (I love everything Pearlman does) Much of the movie is AH HA moments for some of those old wives tales that in the movie are VERY true. I liked the fact that the movie showed Hellboy had a soul by his endless supply of the pet cats he adores to the rooftop scene where he spies on Liz and John Myers with a little boy who shares his cookies with him. This movie in my book gets 5+++ star rating and is one of my all time favorites.

Iron Man 3

Being a huge comic fan I really enjoyed the movie Iron Man 3. We went to see it in 3D with my daughter and 2 sons and her friend. It was so full of funny moments from the king of snark Tony Stark. (Yes I know it rhymes). The effects were awesome and they took you on a thrill ride every moment of the movie. The dialogue and love story in the movie were exceptionally played by Downey and Paltrow. The evil fiend Killian and his counterpart The Mandarin are so well played by screen legend Ben Kingsley and new kid on the block Guy Pierce. The twists and turns of Iron Man 3 kept me on the edge of my seat. The variance from the original Marvel comic is refreshing and gives the story accessibility for all ages. The ending however with my knowledge of the second Avengers movie in 2015 left me cold however but still curious if Stark will be returning and appearing in that movie as well. All in all I give it 4 stars!

Review Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2

The final installment of the Twilight Saga is here. It was with excitement and sadness I went to see it knowing that, "it's over" but still HOW COOL! The story picks up where the last left off with an awesome and beautiful segue from one to the other. I will say for the movie that I wish it had followed more with the book. I would liked to have seen jasper following Bella around and his powers being explained more. But I'm very Jaspercentric. I loved when Bella "took care of business" with Jacob for imprinting on Renesmee. I loved the arm wrestling scene but I really missed the part where Nessie laughs. That would have been so cool. In all honesty I would have liked to have seen more of the book in the movie but the ending scenes rock and rock hard! 5 stars!

Silent Hill Revelation

In true horror fashion Silent Hill Revelation pulls you in and takes you on an  exciting creeptastic journey. I loved the creature creations and the performances of the main characters. The story itself could be predictable at times but that didn't take away from the whole effect of the movie! I especially liked the effects in the movie they were amazingly well done. My favorite part was the carousel scene. Totally awesome. Usually sequels suck but this story took on a life of it's own. As long as they use the amazing storytelling and scriptwriting I would see every single one! I give it 4 stars!

Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan

I have a new addiction, I must tell you it's an awesome show called Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan. In this BBC program he visits all the corners of the globe in search of a certain creature but he always ends up finding fantastic and interesting animals along the way. The reason I love this show so much is that you can see Dom's deep respect and love for the animal kingdom in the way he talks about the animals and the way he handles them. He is so well versed on all the animals he encounters and the way he speaks never seems scripted. More than that he's well versed on the countries he visits and has a working knowledge of everything he airs. He's a very intelligent man who has made an awesome awesome show. It's been a long time since I've seen a show about animals that I liked but this is one I would recommend to any age group. It's such an entertaining and enriching show that I hope is aired for years and years to come. I wish I could give infinity stars to this show.....wait it's MY blog I can! Kudos Dom, I love this show absolutely completely fully and would watch it over and over again!

Robot and Frank

There is nothing that I can say but that I absolutely loved this movie. The actor playing Frank was awesome as a grumpy old man who turned out to be a crook but had an awesome way of covering it. His reaction to getting his robot caretaker was priceless and then the way their relationship grew by Frank thinking that he was manipulating the robot and the robot thinking he was manipulating Frank was awesome. It really took a look at the technological age we are getting into. I laughed frequently during this movie. It was touching and really had a good heart to it. I give kudos to the directors actors and writers of this movie. It wasn't hokey it was just a great watch and I would definitely add this to my personal list of favorites that I could watch over and over again. This movie gets five plus plus plus stars from me!

Citadel

I recently watched a British Suspense/Drama called Citadel. The movie begins with a guy and his pregnant girlfriend in the hallway of an apartment building. The woman is left standing while he takes something to their car. When he gets back inside the elevator is not working. He shuts the door manually and then goes upstairs to find his girlfriend being attacked by 3 children. Wouldn't you know it the elevator door doesn't open. She goes to the hospital and he is handed their baby. We find out later she's alive but a vegetable. Meanwhile the hero of the movie is left to raise their baby daughter alone with a terrible case of agoraphobia and a healthy fear of the children that seem to follow him around. It was very hard to follow in general and seemed like it was more about the man's agoraphobia than anything else. Even when it seemed to be getting good it wasn't. I would give this movie 2 1/2 stars for effort.

Paranormal Activity 4

The Paranormal Activity movies are an acquired taste some people like them while other don't I however LOVE them in all their creeptastic scariness. I could sit and watch a marathon of them and not blink. Paranormal Activity 4 does not dissappoint. Told from the perspective of Alex, a teenage girl who notices that some strange neighbors have moved in. A single mom and her freakishly quiet and creepy son who shows up in their yard and in their treehouse at all hours of the night. The boy and his mother turn out to be Katie and Hunter and the ensuing scariness keeps you on the edge of your seat right up until the end! I look forward to the release of the Paranormal Activity movies every year and this one is probably in second place to my favorite one which was the second one. I will be adding this one to my video library!

Elfie Hopkins

Evil beware Elfie Hopkins is on the case. Nothing escapes her all seeing all questioning eyes. When the new neighbors move in they are not immune from Elfie's inquisition. She knows there's something off about them but she can't put her finger on it. Along with her friend Dylan she figures out the dark secret her new neighbors are hiding. It was a wonderfully quirky film with wonderful acting by Jaime Winstone who brings Elfie to life in all her quirky, crazy, kickbutt, glory. It was a great film and I'm not a fan of British movies. Elfie won me over!

The Hobbit

JRR Tolkein's "The Hobbit" was beautifully brought to the silver screen by the talented director Peter Jackson. Having read the book a few times in schol it was like reliving the story but watching it play out with characters that were chosen and dressed beautifully. The dialogue was awesome allowing for some comic relief to break up any tragedy that would happen along the way. How Bilbo "came of age" by going on this journey and eventually realized that he was an adventuring Hobbit and not a stay at home type. There was a lot of beautiful camera work as well as some amazing CG done with this movie. It is one I will add to my personal collection when it arrives on Blu Ray as well as to go and see the sequel next year to watch the journey continue. It is 3 hours of complete immersion in the world of Middle Earth and it feels like you've only been there a half an hour. I would see it again and again.

Here Comes The Boom

I just watched "Here Comes The Boom" with Kevin James, Henry Winkler, and Salma Hayek. I loved this movie. Kevin James a biology teacher finds out that the school is cutting the music program and his friend played by Henry Winkler is going to lose his job. Kevin James also teaches a citizenship class and finds out one of his Dutch students in his class fights in mixed martial arts fights and makes money doing so. This leads them into an odyssey of hilarity, inspiration, and of course MMA fights to restore the music program at the school. I loved this movie and could watch it over and over again! If you like funny movies this is the one for you!
